Xbox 360
The Xbox 360 is a seventh-generation video game console developed by Microsoft. It was first released in North America on November 22, 2005. The second console in the Xbox family, it succeeded the original Xbox and preceded the Xbox One.
The Xbox 360 used DVD-ROMs for its games and could also play audio CDs and DVD movies out of the box. A detachable hard drive was available in multiple capacities and could store game saves, downloaded content, and ripped music. A built-in Ethernet port provided out-of-the-box access to Xbox Live, while Wi-Fi required a separate adapter on original models. Later models, including the Xbox 360 S, added built-in Wi-Fi and HDMI output. The console supports a selection of original Xbox games through backwards compatibility, which requires a hard drive and uses software emulation.
