Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo Switch is an eighth-generation video game console developed by Nintendo. It was first released worldwide on March 3, 2017. The seventh home console in the Nintendo family, it succeeded the Wii U and preceded the Nintendo Switch 2. The Switch is a hybrid console, designed to be used as both a home console and a handheld device.
The Switch uses game cards rather than optical discs, marking a return to cartridges for Nintendo. It does not support backwards compatibility with Wii U or Wii games, though many older titles have been re-released digitally. The Switch introduced detachable Joy-Con controllers, which can be used attached to the console, detached, or in a grip.
The console has a built-in touchscreen, built-in Wi-Fi, and 32 GB of internal storage. A microSD card slot allows for expanded storage. It charges and connects to the dock via USB-C. The dock includes HDMI output for TV play and USB ports for accessories. Bluetooth audio is supported for wireless headphones.
