Dreamcast

From Accessible Gaming Wiki

The Dreamcast is a sixth-generation video game console developed by Sega. It was first released in Japan on November 27, 1998, and in North America on September 9, 1999. The final home console in the Sega family, it succeeded the Sega Saturn.

It used GD-ROM discs for its games and could also play audio CDs. Save data was stored on Visual Memory Units (VMU), which also functioned as standalone memory cards with an LCD screen and buttons.

The Dreamcast has four controller ports, compared to two on the Sega Genesis and Sega Saturn. Its pack-in controller was based on the Sega Saturn 3D Control Pad, which had been sold separately as an optional accessory, making analog control standard for the Dreamcast.

The console also had a built-in modem for online play, the first home console to include one as standard.
