Purpose of This Page
The goal of this page is to consolidate all the resources that blind gamers can use to potentially make their gaming experience more accessible, such as websites, software, hardware, platforms, and more. It is intended to apply broadly to blind gaming as a whole and is not intended for specific games. Visit the Blind Accessible Games page to find resources for specific games.
Software
The GoXLR Utility is a third-party open source program that interfaces with the GoXLR mixers. It features full screen reader support and makes it one of the most accessible consumer mixers. The GoXLR has since been discontinued, but can still be found online used. Other consumer mixers should be listed here in hopes to act as alternatives.
Open Deck
Open Deck is a third-party open source software that interfaces with the Elgato Streamdeck. Open Deck was not initially accessible until a blind developer named Zersiax stepped in to help make it accessible.
Websites
AudioGames.net
A website created in the early 2000s that has been a central gathering place for blind gamers for decades. It most notably features a forum that still remains act to date, where blind gamers talk about accessibility mods, new video or audio games, strategies for completing specific games, and more.
MudSoundpack.com
This is a website where players of MUDs (multi-User Dungeons) can download and upload sound packs for a variety of MUDs, with the intention of preserving ones otherwise lost to time. The original thread can be found here.
